After identifying slips, trips, and falls as the leading cause of on-the-job injuries, the wellness team conducted a year-long research and pilot phase to better understand employee challenges. By observing Technical Operations employees in their actual work environments, the team identified key risk factors such as poor ergonomics, improper lifting techniques, and movement patterns that increased injury potential. Using their expertise in kinesiology and biomechanics, they developed targeted educational materials and a structured program to address these risks.
The result was a six-week Core and Balance program designed for all fitness levels, focused on improving strength, stability, and injury prevention. Following successful pilot testing and strong leadership support, the program was rolled out to over 1,000 employees across multiple locations, with additional virtual content reaching hundreds more. Participants experienced improved core strength, reduced lower back pain, and a measurable decrease in workplace injuries, demonstrating long-term impact on both employee health and workplace safety.
